The whole thing behind my drive to lose this weight is really a concerted effort to work on my discipline. If I focus on discipline, a lot of areas of my life will also improve, such as finances, eating, working, keeping the house clean, etc. It's an interesting idea to think of how to improve one's discipline. My first started step was to create this blog. Though anonymous, putting my vulnerability out there and staying on top of blogging will help me be more accountable to myself.
In order to help my discipline, I signed up for a 5K in March. I have never run a 5K. Sure I used to run a lot, but never in a race/group setting. So this will be a good start for me - something to look forward to.
December 29 is when I start training and being better. Here's the gameplan:
Once a week, I'll weigh myself and do full-body measurements. They will be posted on here. I'll also talk about my workouts, eating, and my thoughts on the week.

The Introduction
This is a journey. My journey. An open journey I’m sharing with you. I have been unsuccessful on this journey before and maybe if I share with you, or anyone, what I encounter, maybe I can move forward like I haven’t been able to thus far.
I’m overweight.
Not obese, just overweight. Think 40 pounds overweight.
I know how to eat healthy, I know how to workout….my drive and dedication is just missing. I love food. In high school, I could get away with eating a lot because I was so active, and 40 pounds thinner. I’ve kept those same eating habits and am not working out the same.
So here I am. I occassionally work out, eat mostly well….so what is my problem? It’s not weight gain that’s the issue. It’s that I can’t loose the weight I have. So this is a blog dedicated to my journey of streamlined dedication to work really hard to lose this weight, once and for all!
Today is December 18, 2008. I’m not really starting my new routine until after Christmas (because really, what’s the point?). So the next weeks’ entries will be about me, about what I’ve struggled with – and I hope you can relate, share with me, and help me along. We all need encouragement!
